Genadij Krajevskij dead aged 37 as boxer who fought stars including Tommy Fury remembered as 'true warrior'

Tributes have poured in for a journeyman boxer who fought Tommy Fury, after his death at the age of 37.

Merseyside-based Lithuanian Genadij Krajevskij was a popular figure on the boxing scene across the UK, taking part in 76 fights during an eight year professional career - the most recent of which came against Levi Vaughan in Birmingham in August. However his most high profile bout came live on BT Sport in 2020 against Tommy Fury - half-brother of heavyweight world champion Tyson Fury and former star of reality TV show Love Island - which Fury won by knockout in two rounds.

During his lengthy career, The Baltic Bomber - as Krajevskij was known - won just once, an emotional points against Ryan Broten in February of this year, after which he signalled that he would never give up to a cameraman from the ring. And it was that attitude that won the Lithuanian plenty of respect from opponents, fans and promoters alike.

Posting a video of his celebrations on X, VIP Boxing Promotions said: "It is with deep sorrow that we receive the news of Genadij Krajevskij's passing. We had the honour of featuring him in the VIP Shows on multiple occasions. Our videographer, Lee Hogan, was fortunate enough to capture his sole professional victory during his 68th fight on a Frank Duffin show. This moment was incredibly significant for him, as he conveyed the message never give up to the camera. Rest in peace, Baltic Bomber."

Boxing MC Phil Seymour described Krajevskij as a "great presence at fight shows up and down the country," whilst another fan said: "Remembering the resilience and spirit of Genadij Krajevskij, a cherished fighter and wonderful character. His legacy of bravery touches us all. RIP, legend."
