Gemma Atkinson fears partner Gorka Marquez ‘would leave’ her if she made one huge home decision.

The 40-year-old former Hollyoaks star revealed she “loves” Countryfile and enjoys “anything outdoorsy”. Having been involved in a variety of television roles throughout her career, Gemma says she would like to do something where she “gets muddy on a farm”.

A number of big-name stars have taken up farming in recent years, including Jeremy Clarkson whose Diddly Squat Farm features on Amazon Prime’s Clarkson’s Far and Emmerdale star Kelvin Fletcher.

But when asked if she is tempted to get her own patch of land, Gemma reveals she would rather care for animals, but fears it wouldn’t go down too well with Strictly star Gorka.

Speaking to Heat magazine, she said: “I’d love to have a sanctuary more than a farm. I would love to have loads and loads of land with loads of pigs, dogs and rabbits and stuff if I didn’t have to work.

“But I think Gorka would genuinely leave me if that was the case. I think he draws the line at dogs.”

Gorka came runner-up in Strictly Come Dancing with Countryfile star Helen Skelton in 2022. Gemma says Helen even offered the family a chance to come and experience life at the farm where the hit BBC show films.

Gemma says Gorka has visited the farm but it remains “on the bucket list” for the rest of the family, including daughter Mia, who Helen says “would love it,” and son Thiago. While Gemma is keen to visit the farm and “meet all the cows,” she admits there is one potential drawback.

She added: “I might even steal one! Helen said that I could put one baby cows in the back of my car and drive home with it. I told her ‘don’t tempt me, I will’.”

Gemma met Gorka when she was competing on Strictly in 2017.
