Gears of War Remastered Collection: What Do We Know?

Gears of War could well be getting a remastered collection on next-generation consoles, if a new rumour is to be believed.

A new report from journalist Nick Baker, of Xbox Era via Video Games Chronicle, claims that there is a “Master Chief Collection” style game being developed for the Gears franchise.

Speaking on the podcast, he said: “A while back I said there is another Microsoft franchise that’s getting the Master Chief Collection-type treatment, I am of the belief that that is coming this year.”

He then added that Microsoft’s big game output throughout 2022 is likely to be Halo, then Gears, then a new Forza game.

Here’s what we know so far…

There is no official release date, as the game has yet to be formally announced.

However, the source of the rumour, Nick Baker, claims it could be out before the end of 2022.

We’ll update you when we know more.

Gears of War gameplay has always been from a third-person perspective, featuring over the shoulder shooting and cover-based mechanics.

That has been true from Gears 1 all the way through to Gears 5 and is unlikely to change with any remaster of the collection.

Of course, we’ve yet to see the game in action but if we’re diving back into the Gears world, expect it to be shooting from over the shoulder.

There has yet to be a trailer released for a remastered collection of Gears of War.

As soon as there’s any kind of gameplay or cinematic released on YouTube, we’ll be sure to embed it here and make sure that you can give it a watch.

Given that the game hasn’t been formally announced yet, it’s likely that the first trailer will come with the announcement.
