GCU relays hold dinner, dance in London

Chief Albert Akpomudje

Echoes of the annual Government College Ughelli (GCU) Relays will resonate this weekend in London, as the Old Boys Association (GCUOBA) holds its maiden international dinner and dance at the Hilton Canary Wharf South Quay, Marsh wall, East London.

President General, Worldwide, Albert Akpomudje (SAN), disclosed before departing for London that the GCU Relays would take the centre stage at the event, which will unveil the deserving Old Boys for the 2023 lifetime Achievement Award.

“The first international dinner and dance event will provide the needed platform for the actualisation of many goals, including fund raising for schools developmental projects, the formalisation of international relationships with Ivy League schools in the United Kingdom, the sustainability of the GCU Relays amongst others,” Akpomudje stated.

The fifth edition of the annual GCU Relays will hold on Saturday, November 18, at the school’s tartan tracks.

Before the construction and donation of the tracks by NNPC/Shell Petroleum Development Company, the athletics field had produced some of the greatest schoolboys talents in the past, some of whom, are recipients of the Lifetime Achievement Award to be held this weekend in London.
