GCSE results 2025: Live results, reaction and grade boundaries across Wales as pupils get their grades

Thousands of teenagers across Wales will get their GCSE results this morning. The year 11 class of 2025 had their last term of primary in summer 2020 and their all important transition to secondary school severely disrupted by the Covid pandemic.

Five years on exams have returned to normal for the second year as they collect their GCSE results to move on to sixth form, college, work or other paths.

No big surprises are expected with today's GCSE results without extra help to account for Covid "lost learning". Last week's A level results were broadly similar to last summer and the last pre-pandemic exam year 2019 and GCSEs are likely to reflect this. Grades in summer 2024 dipped to become more similar to pre-Covid after record high results during and immediately after the pandemic when teacher-assessed marks were awarded and then extra support provided.

Students in Wales will be among of hundreds of thousands of students in England, Wales and Northern Ireland to get their GCSE results this morning in what's seen as a milestone after so much disruption to their start at secondary marked by classroom closures, lockdowns and forced isolation working remotely.
