Gay naturist B&B Wellhorny's granted 24/7 booze licence despite 'naughty naked nightclub' concerns

Gay naturist B&B Wellhorny's has been granted a 24/7 booze licence - despite worries it could become a 'naughty naked nightclub'.

The new naturist guest house, in Blackpool, has been given the green light to serve alcohol around the clock. Owners told the council they were not willing to change the name following concerns raised from councillors.

Wellhorny’s, on Banks Street, is set to open in the former Graydon Hotel next month after a town hall licensing panel gave the go ahead for it to serve booze 24/7 - however the club is expected to open only until 11pm, apart from Friday, Saturday and Wednesday when its closing time will be 2am, LancsLive reports.

Darren Yeomans and Paul Richardson, who have been renovating the site, plan to accommodate 15 guests. They want to host larger events two or three nights a week.

Conditions include guests and visitors being members for 24 before prior to being served alcohol; and windows being shut between 11pm and 8am; external doors being closed and the outside smoking area being screened off.

Councillors asked operators to consider changing the name to 'something more in the spirit of a family seaside resort'.

Mr Yeomans welcomed the decision, but said there were no plans to change the name. He said: “I would like to thank the council for granting the licence and giving us the chance to prosper. It has made all our hard work and investment worthwhile.

“We will not be changing the name, as we have spoken to businesses and residents in the surrounding area and they are okay with it. It’s a name, not a statement.”
