Gavin Plumb's disturbing 'abduction kit' he planned to use on Holly Willoughby

The security guard who plotted to kidnap, rape and murder Holly Willoughby assembled a disturbing 'abduction kit', which included handcuffs, chloroform, rope and hundreds of metal cable ties.

Gavin Plumb, 37, has been handed a life sentence with a minimum term of 16 years for hatching the 'depraved and vile' plot after being unanimously convicted of soliciting murder and inciting rape and kidnap following a trial.

Chelmsford Crown Court was told his plot had a “catastrophic and “life-changing” impact on the former This Morning presenter. The judge described some of the plans Plumb had discussed online as “particularly sadistic, brutal and degrading”.

Plumb sent a potential accomplice a video of items he planned to use on the TV star laid out on a bed. During his trial, the jury at Chelmsford Crown Court was played the disturbing footage.

The text accompanying the WhatsApp video said "it’s play time", and in the footage the defendant’s voice is heard listing the items – including ankle shackles, ball gag, rope, metal cable ties and handcuffs. In a subsequent voice note heard in court, Plumb said: "They’re asking me if I’m gonna tie them up at all. Lol. No, no of course not, no, no, no, no I’m not gonna do that at all. Much."

Jurors were also shown an image of items purchased by the defendant, which included what prosecutors described as his "kit" of materials.

Plumb was snared after a US undercover police officer infiltrated an online group called Abduct Lovers and became so concerned about Plumb’s posts that evidence was passed to the FBI. US law enforcement in turn contacted police in the UK, and when Essex
