Gavin Levey set for Aberdeen exit as youth supremo heads for Swansea City and search for successor begins

Swansea City are set to appoint Aberdeen’s Gavin Levey as their new head of youth.

The Dons youth supremo will swap his current position for a similar post with the English Championship outfit. Levy will replace fellow Scot Andy Goldie, who recently left the Welsh side for Southampton. He has been long-serving for the Dons but in more recent seasons has seen more and more players come through the academy and into the Aberdeen first-team.

Levey has overseen a process that has seen the likes of Scott McKenna and Calvin Ramsay come through and move on for big fees to Nottingham Forest and Liverpool, respectively. First-team regulars Connor Barron, Jack MacKenzie and Ryan Duncan have also progressed through the ranks.

Aberdeen are now set to look at internal and external options as they look to appoint a new academy director. They have plenty of conversations as it stands with Stuart Glennie coming in as the new head of academy coaching and Neil Simpson also played a big part in the youth set-up along with Levey. Levey also took over as interim boss of the Aberdeen women’s team last season but he now heads to Swansea.
