Gary Neville says Ralf Rangnick is hiding his true feelings about Manchester United's squad

Gary Neville says it is only Ralf Rangnick’s “class and professionalism” that is preventing the German from sharing his true thoughts about his Manchester United squad - for now.

The visitors fell to a 4-0 away loss to Liverpool on Tuesday night and looked second best all game. The game was effectively over when the home side went 2-0 up after 22 minutes, prompting a wave of criticism from pundits and ex-players.

Neville was on co-commentary duties for Sky Sports when he gave his thoughts about the situation at his former club just before the start of the second half. He suggested that Rangnick has held back on true opinions of the United squad, who look set to miss out on Champions League qualification.

He said: ”I think we’ve seen a couple of interviews with Ralf Rangnick. He’s ready to go, it's only his class and professionalism stopping him telling us what he really thinks of these players.”

When asked by colleague and former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher if his true feelings would one day indeed be expressed, Neville replied: “It could come at Arsenal away Saturday, Chelsea next Thursday.

“I can’t think he’s going to keep on watching this and not go for them. He’s obviously alluded to it in certain interviews but it really is a low.”

The result means United remain three points from fourth-placed Tottenham having played a game more.
