Gary Neville reveals Sky Sports vow in aftermath of Manchester United defeat to Man City

Manchester United legend Gary Neville has revealed the vow he made after his old side's recent defeat to Manchester City.

The Reds suffered a 3-1 defeat to their local rivals at the start of March, with Erik ten Hag setting his side up well, though United were criticised for their lack of attacking threat. United responded with a league win over Everton before taking on Liverpool in the FA Cup last weekend.

The cup tie created several memorable moments as a jubilant Old Trafford crowd celebrated Amad’s last-gasp winner in the FA Cup quarter-final. That was a stark contrast to how Neville admitted he felt after watching United lose the Manchester derby while working for Sky Sports.

“We walked away from the Man City game a couple weeks ago and said ‘we can’t do United games anymore’ because you just end up, at the end of a game, thinking what else is there to say?” Neville said on the Stick to Football podcast, sponsored by Sky Bet.

“But then they have a moment like that [against Liverpool] and forget all the nonsense”.

Neville was not on broadcasting duty for the Liverpool clash, sharing his celebrations at home on social media. Former United captain Roy Keane admitted that it was uplifting to see those type of scenes for Ten Hag’s side, even though United were forced to embrace the chaos in orde to book their place at Wembley.
