Gary Neville provides bleak prediction for rest of Manchester United's season

Gary Neville feels Manchester United’s hopes of a top four finish in the Premier League are over and that it is going to be an unenjoyable final two months of the season, unless they improve their performances.

Neville was thoroughly unimpressed with the Red Devils on Saturday as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Leicester City at Old Trafford.

United’s hopes of pinching a Champions League spot are not over yet, they are just three points behind Arsenal in fourth, although they have played two more games than the Gunners.

The former full-back has lost hope, though, feeling that their performance against the Foxes was nowhere near good enough and that form will not be enough to climb the table over the last eight games.

Asked if United’s top four chances are over, he told Sky Sports: ‘I think so. I think the run in started today [Saturday] after the international break.

‘They had to get off with a win, obviously, and they didn’t get the win, they drew the game, but it was the way they drew the game. That was really bad out there today.

‘I expected the international break…I thought it actually might work for Manchester United, give them a bit of a break away from the club, come back and have a right go in this last nine games.

‘This is going to be a long two months for those Manchester United players and Manchester United fans if they’re going to continue to play like that.

‘It was really poor out there today, I didn’t have a clear idea of what they were trying to do.’

The Red Devils have a trip to Everton next up and face some tough fixtures before the end of the season, including away days at Liverpool and Arsenal, while they welcome Chelsea to Old Trafford in May.
