Gary Neville names Manchester United's 'best player' following Aston Villa win

Gary Neville has described Manchester United midfield ace Bruno Fernandes as the club's "best player" - but has warned him to tone down his moaning.

The Portuguese international, who was tasked with starting out wide, scored the only goal of the game as United boosted their top-four hopes with a 1-0 win over Aston Villa at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon. Fernandes tucked the ball home from close quarters after Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez could only parry Marcus Rashford's effort into the former's path.

It marked Fernandes' first Premier League goal since the 2-1 win over Crystal Palace at the start of February and his 100th league goal of his career. The goal arrived just over 20 minutes after Fernandes had expressed his disappointment at not having the ball passed to him by Jadon Sancho.

Fernandes had been calling for the ball when Sancho attempted to backheel the ball to Tyrell Malacia, but he misjudged the pass, meaning the ball went out for a throw-in. Fernandes was not impressed and it resulted in Sancho telling him to 'stop moaning.'

Fernandes has, of course, developed a reputation for regularly getting frustrated and agitated if things do not go his way, even though it portrays just how passionate he is. And even though Neville has hinted that the former Sporting Lisbon ace does moan just a little bit too much, he has hailed what he brings to Erik ten Hag's team.
