Gary Neville makes 'appalling' Manchester United prediction ahead of trip to Liverpool

Gary Neville has claimed that playing against 'appalling' Machester United could work in Liverpool's favour in their Premier League run-in.

Jurgen Klopp's side were forced to settle for a share of the spoils in their top-of-the-table clash with Manchester City after their 2-2 draw on Sunday. As a result, the Blues' one-point lead at the top remains intact.

It has been suggested that City's final seven games of the league campaign are easier than Liverpool's, with Jurgen Klopp's side set to embark on a Merseyside derby and a clash with United before the end of the season. United's hopes of Champions League qualification faded further after Saturday's disappointment at Goodison Park, and Neville believes that playing Ralf Rangnick's side shouldn't be viewed as a tough encounter.

He told Sky Sports: "In the cup competitions, anything could happen. In the Premier League, we’ve looked at City and thought that’s an easy run-in but actually, that’s because we’re looking at a Merseyside derby and Manchester United which in an ordinary season would be tough - those two teams are appalling, they could be easier than any of the teams Manchester City have got.

"(For Liverpool) Watford are fighting for their lives, Leeds have to win games, Newcastle away. You look at Liverpool’s run-in, Merseyside derby, Tottenham - you think it’s a tough run-in but it’s not. I’d rather play Manchester United and Everton at home than West Ham away."
