Gary Neville is right to reassure Man City fans about Pep Guardiola contract and future

Manchester City's start to the campaign could not have gone much better as we sit here in October.

Apart from a pre-season blip in the Community Shield against Sunday's opponents Liverpool, the Blues have yet to be defeated. City have yet to taste a loss in the Premier League and have already qualified for the Champions League knockout stages with three victories and a draw from their opening four matches.

What's more, their new summer signing appears to be worth every single penny which they splashed out on him. Erling Haaland's 20 goals in record quick time has seen him take English football by storm and already he looks to be the player who may well end the Blues' Champions League 'curse'.

Yet, with all this optimism, there is still something that niggles in the back of City fans' minds. Will Pep Guardiola still be in Manchester come the start of next season?

As things currently stand, Guardiola's contract at the Etihad Stadium is set to expire when the current campaign ends. When posed with the question regarding his contract, the Catalan has been coy with his responses and has insisted that he is not thinking about it.

These replies do nothing to alleviate the concerns of Blues supporters who fear that one of the greatest managers in their club's history could pack up and leave when the summer rolls around. Fortunately for City fans they have received reassurance from an unlikely source.
