Gary Neville immediate Man United reaction says it all after shock start vs Liverpool

Gary Neville has shared his immediate reaction to Manchester United's fast start against Liverpool. Bryan Mbeumo has put the Reds a goal ahead after just one minute at Anfield.

United may well be quietly confident of securing a positive result against the Premier League champions given Arne Slot's side's recent troubles. Liverpool have lost three games on the bounce while United bagged a crucial three points against Sunderland in their final game before the international break.

A win today would see Ruben Amorim notch back-to-back wins in the top-flight for the first time since taking over at Old Trafford nearly a year ago. And Amorim's men have got off to the perfect start on Merseyside.

"What a first minute it is for Manchester United!" he said on Sky Sports. "United fans are delirious.

"Mbeumo and Cunha connect. Mbeumo runs round the back of Van Dijk. I don't think Van Dijk sees him!

"Mbeumo is like a boxer, off he goes! A stunning start for United!"

He added: "For the goal, Van Dijk points to Konate and says: Mbeumo is yours. It's a strange handover from Van Dijk."

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher, meanwhile, said: "Van Dijk is thinking Mbeumo will be offside, but Konate goes with the run.

"Arne Slot is not happy with what happened with Mac Allister."

"There's a lot about the United system for obvious reasons. But United caused Liverpool a lot of problems last season because Liverpool didn't know who was meant to be picking up who."
