Gary Lineker lauds Leeds United supporters for their latest actions

Leeds United sacked Marcelo Bielsa earlier in the season after a dismal spell saw the Whites slump near the bottom end of the table. Fast forward six games and Jesse Marsch looks to have steered them closer to safety.

Despite looking like the correct decision, Bielsa is still adored by Leeds United supporters, with their latest actions confirming this. They paid for a full-page advert in Rosario’s biggest newspaper, La Capital, to express their gratitude for the Argentine.

After being shared on Twitter, Gary Lineker reacted to the gesture by tweeting ‘bien hecho’ which translates to ‘well done’ in English.

Bielsa guided Leeds back to the Premier League and that clearly helped the supporters’ admiration for him grow so strong. He also had a successful opening season with the Whites. Bielsa guided the Yorkshire club to a top-half finish, ending up ninth and just two points behind Arsenal.

TIF Thoughts on Lineker’s tweet…

Bielsa’s record this season wasn’t good enough and led to his sacking. Leeds were never solid enough defensively under Bielsa, seeing them concede 114 goals in his 64 Premier League games, with only 91 going in Leeds’ favour. They won 23 games, drew 13 and lost 28 under the Argentine, who paid the ultimate price for the form.

However, it is apparent the fans still have a lot of love for the Argentine and his efforts have also been recognised by one of the legends of English football, in Lineker.

It’s certainly a classy touch from the Leeds supporters to thank their former manager for everything he did for the club but attention will also be firmly set on their side retaining their top-flight status.
