Gary Lineker backs Rangers during UEFA call to action as he brands fan treatment in Seville 'awful'

Gary Lineker has called for UEFA changes following the poor treatment of Liverpool and Rangers fans.

The Ibrox club have compiled a dossier to take to UEFA after uniting with Europa League Final rivals Eintracht Frankfurt and Football Supporters Europe (FSE).

Rangers representatives have also met with the UK Government to discuss issues with UEFA organisation of the competition and treatment by Spanish police of travelling supporters in Seville.

The Europa League issues were followed by similar problems when Liverpool took on Real Madrid.

Supporters of the English Premier League giants were pepper-sprayed as they attempted to gain entry to the Stade de France during ugly scenes outside of the final.

Lineker shared a clip of the actions taken against Liverpool fans, and cited Rangers as another example of UEFA failures.

Lineker wrote on Twitter: “It’s a minor miracle no one was seriously injured or lost a life.

"My first experience of witnessing the unjust treatment of peaceful, law-abiding fans going to a football game and It’s so wrong.

“Rangers fans went through an awful time too. Something has to change.”
