Gareth Southgate explains Kyle Walker England call-up decision amid allegations

Gareth Southgate has included Manchester City's Kyle Walker in his latest England squad amid allegations the defender exposed himself in bar.

The Three Lions boss named the right back in his 25-man squad on Thursday for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers later this month, describing the situation as 'complicated' while adding he was wary not to be the 'moral judge' on any alleged incident.

Walker is being investigated by Cheshire Police over allegations he indecently exposed himself in a Wilmslow bar. The alleged incident is said to have happened earlier this month after City's 2-0 Premier League win over Newcastle. A national newspaper released security camera footage from the bar and Cheshire Police are investigating the matter.

The England international came off the bench for the final few minutes as City beat Crystal Palace in their last Premier League fixture while he was an unused sub in the midweek Champions League thrashing of RB Leipzig.

City have spoken to Walker as a club while Pep Guardiola also had a conversation with the 32-year-old. The Etihad chief stressed the alleged incident was a private matter while England counterpart Southgate said he held a long chat with Walker ahead of the squad being named.

"It's a complicated situation," said the England boss. "I have spoken at length with him. The situation at the moment is he's playing with his club and there's no conclusive evidence at this stage.
