Gareth Bale confirms Los Angeles FC move as he's pictured in team's shirt for first time

Gareth Bale has confirmed his move to Los Angeles FC on his social media channels.

News emerged yesterday revealing the Wales skipper had chosen America over Cardiff City for his next move in football after his Real Madrid contract came to an end.

It was thought Bale's decision was a straight toss-up between MLS and his hometown club, with LAFC coming out as winners.

He is believed to have signed a one-year contract with the west coast club, with an option to extend his deal. He used his own social media channels on Twitter and Instagram to confirm the agreement.

He wrote: "See you soon, Los Angeles. @LAFC @LAFC3252," with a video of him wearing a LAFC shirt and cap.

It brings to an end months of intense speculation over Bale's future which saw him linked with a myriad of clubs. He certainly wasn't short on offers, with Premier League outfits and teams in Europe interested in signing him.

A move to America was always on the cards; "I really like the league," Bale told The Hat-Trick podcast. "It's grown so much over the years. When we come over and play now in pre-season, the games are difficult. The standard is a lot better. All the clubs are improving, the facilities are improving, the stadiums are improving.

"It's a league that's on the up and still rising, and I think a lot more players want to come over to America now to play. I'd definitely be interested in it. I love going to Los Angeles on holiday."

Cardiff themselves sent Bale a classy message yesterday on learning his decision. "We wish Gareth the very best, want to see him get fit and do well for Wales at the World Cup," said Bluebirds chairman Mehmet Dalman.
