Gallants coach Dan Malesela says they are 'desperate' for points ahead of Sundowns clash

Marumo Gallants head coach Dan Malesela expects a tough match against the reigning DStv Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns at the Loftus Versveld Stadium on Wednesday.  

Gallants have had a difficult start to the season as they currently sit second from bottom in 15th, recording just a single win, while opponents Sundowns have picked up where they've left off by putting themselves at the top of the pile.   

Both teams will enter the game off the back of recent victories as Gallants beat Elgeco Plus of Madagascar 4-1 on aggregate in the CAF Confederation Cup while Sundowns easily dispatched La Passe of Seychelles 15-1 over two legs in the CAF Champions League. 

With Sundowns seemingly looking unstoppable once more, Gallants coach Dan Malesela was full of praise for his opponents and expects a tough match against The Brazilians.  

"Look, we obviously expecting a tough outing," Malesela told reporters.  

"It's not going to be easy against the champions of the league, but we always try to prepare in relevance to what we expect to happen in the match but also prepare for the unknown for the players.

"But the biggest one is for us to prepare ourselves as in how do we approach the match as opposed to really taking our entire focus and putting it on the opponents because otherwise, we will be switching to defence mode, which we don't want to do."

The 57-year-old's side are in desperate need of a victory and despite the ten-point gap between the two sides, he is confident that they can cause an upset and says they will play for the three points.
