Gabriel Jesus' preference is to join Real Madrid over Arsenal, according to a report on the continent.

The Manchester City striker has been linked with a move to the Emirates after Erling Haaland arrived at the Etihad from Borussia Dortmund. The Gunners have been in contact with Pep Guardiola's side over a potential deal for the Brazilian with City slapping a £55million price tag on the striker, according to ESPN.

Jesus is a player that Mikel Arteta - formerly Guadiola's assistant - is a huge admirer of following their spell working together at the Etihad. It was previously claimed that Jesus is keen on a switch to the Gunners as his agent, Marcelo Pettinati, confirmed that he likes the Spaniard's project.

Real Madrid have since entered the equation, however, as the reigning Champions League winners target the Brazilian this summer. And Spanish outlet La Cadena Ser claims that the player now prefers a move to the Bernabeu over a switch to Arsenal.

The report also states that the Spanish giants cannot complete a deal for Jesus until fellow Brazilian forward Vinicius Junior gets a Spanish passport as Los Blancos are at the maximum amount of non-European players permitted by La Liga.
