GAA mentor jailed over assaulting referee in Wexford
A GAA mentor has been jailed for assaulting a referee following a junior football match in Co Wexford last September.
Glen McManus, 34, of Cluain Dara, Clonard, Co Wexford, punched referee Michael Lanigan in the immediate aftermath of the match.
He was on the sideline for his club St Joseph's at their grounds at Whiterock Hill for the game.
McManus pleaded guilty to assault causing harm.
He also assaulted another man and a second charge was taken into account.
Judge James McCourt sentenced him today at Wexford Circuit Court to 18 months in prison with the final 12 months suspended.
