Future of West Brom keeper up in the air after emergency loan

The immediate future of West Brom keeper Alex Palmer is up in the air as Luton Town ponder whether to extend his emergency loan.

Palmer has played in the Hatters’ last two games after joining up with them following a goalkeeping crisis at Kenilworth Road.

He made his debut in last weekend’s 2-1 defeat at Middlesbrough before helping Luton to a 1-0 win at Coventry City in midweek.

Palmer’s initial seven-day loan can be extended, but a decision has not yet been made ahead of Luton’s home clash with QPR on Sunday.

“We’re not quite sure at the moment,” Hatters assistant manager Mick Harford, told LutonToday.

"We’re a bit unsure on that position at the moment, it’s something we're monitoring as we speak, so I can't give you any more information on that one.”

Harford was delighted with Palmer’s contribution at Coventry.

“He made a massive contribution, he looked sound, he looked solid,” added Harford, a Luton legend.

"He made a good save in the first minute of the game, his hands looked good, his kicking was excellent and he had some kind of assist for Elijah’s goal.

"He made a couple of good saves throughout the game, so overall it was a really good performance by him and we were really pleased with his performance.”
