'Further breakthroughs' in Kersal Dale murder probe with FOUR police scenes in place

Police have made 'further breakthroughs' as they continue their investigation into the human remains found in Salford earlier this month. There are currently four police scenes in place as part of the Kersal Dale murder probe while two suspects remain in custody.

An underwater search team has arrived at Blackleach Country Park in Walkden where the reservoir has been taped off. There are currently also police scenes in place atWorsley Road, Winton, Linneyshaw Colliery Wood in Salford and Mitchell Street in Bury.

It comes after a passer-by found, in plain sight, the lower back, buttocks, and a thigh of a man wrapped in cellophane, near a footpath. Two men were arrested earlier this week on suspicion of murder, a 42 and 68-year-old who we believe are known to each other.

They remain in extended custody for further questioning around these developments. GMP has explained that the four police scenes are in place to preserve any evidence found whilst also making sure that no stone is left unturned in finding out what happened.

The force says detectives and specialist officers have continued to pursue all available lines of enquiry in relation to the investigation this weekend, overnight and into today (April 28). The latest development comes after new intelligence was uncovered this weekend.
