From Italy: Tottenham now weighing move for £116k-p/w 'worldbeater' who Conte absolutely loves

As per an update from Italy, some Tottenham Hotspur transfer news has come to light involving Inter Milan defender Stefan de Vrij.

Lilywhites boss Antonio Conte and transfer chief Fabio Paratici have reportedly set their sights on strengthening at centre-half since the end of the January window.

After failing to sign one last month, reports indicate that many names are on Spurs’ radar, with the likes of Sven Botman and Alessandro Bastoni among those mentioned (The Telegraph).

Now, sharing news out of Spurs, Italian source TUTTOmercatoWEB details another defender who Tottenham are weighing a move to sign in the summer.

According to TMW’s information, Spurs and Paratici are ‘thinking of’ moving for Inter’s de Vrij in a bid to strengthen for next campaign.

Conte, who worked with the Netherlands international last season, is apparently a ‘great admirer’ of the player – though right now it appears de Vrij is more in favour of extending his San Siro stay.

If the 30-year-old opts not to put pen to paper on an extension, we believe Spurs should certainly attempt to sign de Vrij in the summer as just 16 months remain on his current deal.

The £116,000-per-week ace, lauded a ‘worldbeater’ by pundit Noel Whelan, possesses a wealth of experience on the international stage and could move fairly cheaply given his contract situation.

Even for a quick fix over the next few seasons, de Vrij could prove a viable asset for Conte, especially taking into account just how crucial he was for Inter last campaign.
