From Italy: ‘Top class’ £70k-p/w West Ham gem now ‘about to leave’ Rush Green – report

Serie A club Torino are closing in on a deal to sign West Ham United midfielder Nikola Vlasic on loan this summer, according to Tuttomercatoweb (as relayed by Hammers.News).

Since arriving at the London Stadium in 2021, the 24-year-old has failed to make an impression on David Moyes and was limited to just six starts in the Premier League last season.

Having been utilised on both flanks and through the middle, it seems that the Irons have not found what they had been looking for in the Croatia international, who has played just 31 times for the east London club.

According to a report by Tuttomercatoweb (as relayed by Hammers.News), Vlasic is ‘about to leave’ West Ham as he nears a loan move to Torino.

At just 24 years of age, the attacking midfielder has plenty of time to revive his fortunes at Rush Green, so a loan move could prove to be an ideal option for the Croatian.

When compared with positional peers across Europe’s top five leagues over the past year, Vlasic ranks in the 93rd percentile for pressures and the 89th percentile for interceptions (via FBRef).

Whilst his underlying figures are good, the attacking midfielder averaged a disappointing 6.52 rating during the 2021/22 Premier League season, making him West Ham’s third lowerst-ranked player (via SofaScore).

Whilst there is potential in the 24-year-old, who was previously described as a ‘top-class player’ by pundit Noel Whelan, his move to the London Stadium has not worked out just yet.

Therefore, a loan move to Italy could prove to be beneficial for all parties involved, with Vlasic’s £70,000 weekly salary currently a burden on the Hammers’ wage bill.

In other news: David Moyes has added this player to the Hammers’ transfer shortlist
