Fridge dumped in the middle of the street - flytipping in Gorton is getting 'absolutely ridiculous'

Locals in Gorton are outraged after someone dumped a fridge, tyres and various other forms of rubbish on the middle of a popular road causing a dangerous scenario.

The mess was first found by a Gorton resident who was driving on the road and noticed the items scattered all across Sunnybrow Road.

The fly-tip comes after several instances in recent weeks of garbage being dumped in Gorton including a recent case outside of Gorton Cemetery.

Due to the hazards the fly-tip caused for cars using the road, residents have taken it upon themselves to move the rubbish from the middle of the road and pile it up ready to be taken.

Phillipa Alberaj, 63, spoke to M.E.N on the mess: "I am so tired of seeing rubbish in Gorton. It is so disgusting and needs to be sorted ASAP.

"I have my eldest daughter living in Gorton and she even debated moving from Gorton due to the reputation, we need to have some harsher punishments for fly-tipping.

"This can be seen as environmental terrorism! You are ruining the appearance of Gorton, you are giving it a very bad name and you can even smell an odour now.

"I give my respect to the local councillors, I know they are trying, we are seeing a new pile of rubbish almost every day now. It is becoming clockwork."

The dumping has been reported by locals and is to be removed by the Manchester City Council as soon as possible.

Another resident living in Gorton said: "Why don't we add some cameras in the hotspots where this occurs? We barely have any cameras so it's not surprising people are doing this.

"People know they can get away with it and it's incredibly frustrating. I wouldn't be surprised if they dump it on Hyde Road now, a fine
