Fresh twist in Jorginho saga as Chelsea stance revealed giving former coach hope of deal

Chelsea are reportedly willing to let Jorginho leave for Italy this summer despite his agent suggesting penning new terms at Stamford Bridge was a priority.

Jorginho, 30, has been with the Blues since July 2018 when Chelsea paid Napoli £50m for his signature. And the Brazilian-born star has played a full part in Chelsea’s success over the past four seasons. He has made 188 appearances in all competitions, scoring 26 goals.

The Italy international has bagged 19 of those in the Premier League and contributed five assists. He has picked up two major trophies, winning the Champions League 2020-21 and the Europa League in 2018-19.

However, he has also suffered the disappointment of losing five Wembley finals; three FA Cups and two in the EFL Cup. The former Hellas Verona schemer has been instrumental in Chelsea’s march to the latter stages of competitions.

Joao Santos stated there had been no contact with the Old Lady, adding his priority was to renew with Chelsea. However, 90min are reporting that, with no contact over a new Chelsea deal, Jorginho is free to find a new club.

There is said to be interest from Spain but even more from Italy. Juve have made their intentions clear while Lazio chief Maurizio Sarri is said to be keen on a reunion in Rome.

He managed the talented midfielder at Napoli and signed him for Chelsea.

Chelsea managed to finish third in the Premier League standings but were 19 points adrift of champions Manchester City.

They looked set to advance to the semi-finals of the Champions League but lost out
