Arsenal have held a new meeting to discuss their chances of signing Eden Hazard on loan from Real Madrid, a report has revealed.
Hazard previously lit up the Premier League while playing for Arsenal’s London rivals, Chelsea. Since his 2019 transfer to Real Madrid, though, things have not gone to plan for the exciting winger.
Injuries have hampered his progress in the Spanish capital, turning a dream move into a nightmare. It has also been far from ideal for his employers, who are forking out a significant amount of money for his wages.
Therefore, it would be beneficial for Real to offload him in the summer. Aware that his market price has dropped, though, their plan is to send him somewhere on loan where he can regain some value.
Then, in the summer of 2023, when there will be one year left on his contract, they should be able to sell him for a better price if their strategy has paid off.
The club to benefit, according to Foot Mercato, could be Arsenal. They are interested in taking Hazard back to London, having already done business with Madrid for the likes of Dani Ceballos and Martin Odegaard in recent years.
Hazard would add attacking flair if he can rediscover his form and fitness. Therefore, it would be a high-profile signing for the Gunners. The fact he used to represent their rivals would give it an extra edge.
