Frenkie de Jong has just told Manchester United what he wants

Frenkie de Jong has just bought a new multi-million pound home in Barcelona, according to reports in Spain. The midfielder is understood to be settled and happy in Catalonia with his girlfriend of seven years, and their dog, Jagger the Cockapoo.

It's therefore little wonder that De Jong would be apprehensive about a potential transfer to Manchester United. De Jong has made 42 appearances for Barcelona this season and manager Xavi has insisted he is still a 'key player' at the club, despite recent claims suggesting he's set to be available this summer. De Jong doesn't want his time at Barcelona to be cut short.

The Manchester Evening News revealed earlier this month that United are weighing up a potential £75million move for De Jong and that Erik ten Hag had identified the player as a priority target. There has since been noise of a conversation between Ten Hag and De Jong, in which the new United manager tried to persuade the 25-year-old to pull up stumps for a switch to Old Trafford.

It has been claimed De Jong was far from excited about Ten Hag's pitch. De Jong wants to play Champions League football, just like every elite player should. United are playing in the Europa League next season. Although some on social media have suggested that the player's 'lack of enthusiasm' should be enough to end United's interest, that's a partisan and egotistical driven argument.
