Frenkie De Jong and his agent Ali Dursun are yet to discourage Manchester United from making a move as the player insists there is "no news" on his future.

The Dutchman remains a prime target for new Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag. The pair worked together at Ajax, helping the Amsterdam outfit reach the last four of the Champions League back in 2019. Ten Hag now wants De Jong to lead his rebuild at Old Trafford.

His exploits with Ajax earned De Jong a switch to Barcelona, where he has now spent three seasons. The Catalans have endured mixed fortunes during his time there and are struggling financially which as led to rumours of an exit for the midfielder.

De Jong has not entertained any Nou Camp exit, but equally has not poured cold water on United's interest - which he is well aware of. He said recently: "You’re always flattered when teams show interest in you as a player but I am at the biggest club in the world at the moment and I feel fine there, so no news."

Ten Hag is growing increasingly concerned by the club's lack of progress in negotiations, with a £60m offer being rejected as Barcelona instead seek a fee closer to £80m. De Jong is currently battling for a place in midfield as the Spanish giants continue to see talent
