French Open 2023: Cameron Norrie thrashed by Lorenzo Musetti at Roland-Garros as final Brit departs singles

Cameron Norrie was thrashed 6-1 6-2 6-4 by Lorenzo Musetti at the French Open to leave no Brits left in either the men's or women's singles draws at Roland-Garros. Norrie had looked supreme in his demolition of Lucas Pouille in the second round, but the boot was firmly on the other foot against Musetti as Norrie struggled throughout, winning just seven games.

Ad The Brit was the slight favourite in the seedings — 14th to Musetti's 17th — but that counted for nothing in the first set as Norrie was broken twice to go behind in quick time, losing the opener 6-1. But from there the 27-year-old didn't win a further game as Musetti dialled it up, taking the set 6-2, and doubling his advantage in the match. Things looked ominous for Norrie as the third set began, as the Brit gave up his serve once more.

However, he dug out a break back in game six to claw himself back to 3-3. But the respite was only fleeting as Musetti sealed a break in the ninth game of the set, before serving it out to win in straight sets.
