French FA chief drops hint over Zinedine Zidane's next role amid PSG manager rumours

The president of the French Football Federation (FFF) thinks Zinedine Zidane might become the next manager of Paris Saint-Germain.

Current boss Mauricio Pochettino is expected to leave his position at the end of the season after failing to win the Champions League. PSG were also dumped out of the French Cup and lost the French Super Cup, although they did win the Ligue 1 title.

Zidane is unattached after leaving Real Madrid at the end of last season. The Frenchman is widely regarded as one of the best managers in the world after becoming the first coach in history to win three consecutive Champions Leagues.

Many are tipping Zidane to take the PSG job - including FFF president Noel Le Graet. When asked by L'Equipe if Zidane is being considered to succeed Didier Deschamps as France boss after the World Cup, the chief said: "You have to be careful what you say.

"Zidane has shown Madrid that he has qualities that were barely imaginable. In the minds of the French, he may be a successor. But that's not my goal. We'll see. If Didier and I go our separate ways, he will surely be one of the options.

"Do you see me saying today: 'Is it Zidane who will replace Deschamps?' We'll see. Zidane might take on PSG. For the France team, you have to be free. But today, we are going to do everything to put Didier in the best conditions to win this World Cup."

As well as his success in the Champions League, Zidane also won two La Liga titles, two Spanish Super Cups, two UEFA Super Cups and two Club World Cups at Real during his two spells. He was also named the best coach in the world by FIFA in 2017.
