Fraser Forster tells Antonio Conte how he can challenge Hugo Lloris amid bold Tottenham claim

Tottenham announced the signing of Fraser Forster on Wednesday, with the goalkeeper agreeing a contract until 2024. The 34-year-old became Spurs' second signing of the summer - before the transfer window has even opened - after the arrival of Ivan Perisic was announced last week.

Forster has a wealth of experience in the Premier League and Europe, which will be a major boost for Antonio Conte. The former Southampton shot stopper will make the move to N17 as a backup goalkeeper to Hugo Lloris and to replace Pierluigi Gollini, who has returned to Atalanta after a season-long loan at Spurs.

Tottenham will have a busy fixture schedule next season, with Premier League matches as well as their involvement in cup competitions and the Champions League. Conte will rely on Forster to be ready to step-in if Lloris is unavailable and potentially feature in some cup games.

Ahead of a tough pre-season which is expected at Tottenham and after the deal was confirmed, Forster made some bold claims in his first interview with the club. "I’m absolutely delighted," he stated.

"This is a fantastic opportunity for me. When a team like this comes along, it’s impossible to say no. I couldn’t get here fast enough to get it done."

The location, manager, facilities and stadium are all attractive to potential incomings and that is something Forster also commented on, stating that the ground is the envy of the world's top players. "Everything about the place is world-class," the 34-year-old explained.
