Frankie Kent is a Hearts manager's dream as he reveals transfer justified by Conference League amazement

Frankie Kent says watching Hearts draw their Europa Conference League opponents cemented his belief he made the right call in joining the Jambos.

Kent's desire to make the transfer from Peterborough United was revealed by Record Sport this week as Steven Naismith and Co thrashed out a deal for the defender to sign a three-year deal in Gorgie. The 27-year-old was the subject of interest from clubs after he entered the final year of his deal at London Road but Hearts pulled off the signing on Monday as Kent joined Calem Nieuwenhof in becoming a Jambos' summer signing from Western Sydney Wanderers.

Frankie McAvoy was delighted to add the defender, after sealing a deal for keeper Michael McGovern, in an attempt to bolster the Gorgie backline. And Kent reckons the Hearts coaching staff will find him a cool customer to work with, and that the chance to play on the European stage is one not to be missed.

He told Hearts TV: “It’s brilliant, I’m so happy to be here. It’s all happened very quickly – met everyone for the first time today and got to see the stadium. I’m really excited.

"I wanted a new challenge as well as the opportunity to play in European football. Hearts are a massive club. It’s something new for me, something different, and something exciting. It’s a new place to live. I’m going to try and take that experience on and really enjoy it. It’s really exciting and the first time I’ve ever been a part of it. To get to sit there and watch the draw for a European competition was a surreal experience. One of the main reasons I wanted to come up here was to do that with Hearts.
