A few Everton fans might have been watching Saturday's 3pm kick offs with their hands in front of their faces.

At one stage throughout those games, the dreaded did happen. The Blues did find themselves in the relegation zone.

Hardly surprising, considering the results that have been achieved through this tumultuous campaign so far, but a little crushing all the same.

Thankfully, from an Everton perspective at least, results later changed by the end of each respective 90 minutes to leave them in 17th place instead.

That's not anything to celebrate of course, but psychologically at least it somehow feels significantly different than if the Blues were in that bottom three.

And it must be said that Everton, ahead of their match against Tottenham Hotspur on Monday evening, do have a number of games in hand on a lot of sides in and around them in the table.

However, what's really important is that Frank Lampard won't have been bothered in the slightest.
