Something extraordinary is happening - it looks like Manchester City might actually buy a player in the January transfer market.
The latest reports suggest that City are close to sealing a deal for Argentinian striker Julian Alvarez. The 21-year-old is one of the most promising talents in South America and would likely join up with the Blues next season.
Pep Guardiola and Txiki Begiristain don't often make signings at this point of the season, with Aymeric Laporte being the most recent piece of significant January business in 2018.

City hero Shaun Goater has been busy playing the part of (no so) secret City agent recently, hinting on Twitter that the club are close to bringing Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland to the Etihad Stadium.
Goater is obviously having a laugh, but it is interesting that he starred alongside Haaland's father at Maine Road.
Alf-Inge Haaland has played a key part in his son's transfers and contract negotiations to date, so close contact with him could be a way in.
Trouble is, the Goat doesn't seem to be the most subtle of agents. We reckon Alfie has probably blocked him on WhatsApp by now, fed up with getting 10 messages a day about how his lad could be the 'next Shaun Goater'.
It looks like Alvarez is going to become the first Argentine to play for City since Sergio Aguero left last summer. Everyone is going to be buzzing when he eventually pulls on the sky blue shirt, not least Aguero himself.
Since retiring from football in December, there have been rumours that Aguero will become an ambassador for City. Even if he doesn't, we're sure he'll be up for spreading the
