Four Man City players have quick chance to prove Pep Guardiola wrong after Manchester United win

Manchester City must put derby day delight behind them and focus on the next big challenge ahead of them - finishing the job in the Champions League.

After navigating one of their final big Premier League hurdles before facing Liverpool next month, City have been in celebratory mode for the last day or so as they inflicted a heavy defeat on Manchester United. Pep Guardiola always seeks perfection, and he said City were close to it with a second-half performance where United literally couldn't get near them.

After the highs of Sunday pass, Guardiola will now be looking for City to get back to focus on the next game and nothing past it. And next up is a Champions League last-16 second leg against Sporting.

Despite a ruthless 5-0 win in Lisbon, Guardiola was unhappy with his side's performance and indicated there was plenty of room for improvement. The five-goal cushion allows room for rotation in the second leg, but the manager will still be looking for City to maintain the levels from the derby more so than the first leg.

Injury and suspension will limit the extent to which Guardiola will rotate, and that could help keep the rhythm and momentum going, as Nathan Ake, Ruben Dias and Kyle Walker will all be unavailable.

Still, that gives four players benched for the derby an opportunity to come back and prove a point to Guardiola that they should be starting in the next big game that comes around.
