Former WWE World Champion officially joins governing party in new politics venture

Former World Heavyweight Champion and WWE Hall of Famer The Great Khali is starting a new career in politics in India.

Best known for his time in WWE, The Great Khali has started a brand new career in the world of politics in India, joining the Bharatiya Janata Party.

The Great Khali (real name Dalip Singh Rana), will be working closely with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with Khali wanting to “help the country progress”, as he told The Sun in a statement:

I have wrestled all over the world. If I just loved money and fame, then I would have stayed in the United States and in the WWE. However, I have always loved my country. I was also impressed by all the work done by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. So I told myself that even I should join him and help the country progress. I am a fan of his hard work and thinking.

It seems like people within the political sphere within India are welcoming of Khali joining the Indian governing party.

Vinod Tawde, the National General Secretary for the Bharatiya Janata Party, tweeted his support for Great Khali’s move into politics, as you can see below.

Vinod says that he welcomes Khali joining the party, saying that he appreciates the fact that Khali is willing to work towards the growth of India, which aligns with the BJP:

Great Khali last wrestled for WWE at the Greatest Royal Rumble, WWE’s first show in Saudi Arabia, in April 2018.
