Former Real Madrid president makes Cristiano Ronaldo admission before Champions League final

A former Real Madrid president has made a Cristiano Ronaldo admission ahead of the Champions League final.

Ronaldo's old club are in Paris this evening as they face Manchester United's long-term rivals, Liverpool. Real have enjoyed a stunning run to the final having beaten Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea and Manchester City in dramatic fashion.

Jurgen Klopp's Reds have had a more straightforward route to the final having beaten Inter Milan, Benfica and Villarreal. Ahead of the showpiece event, Roman Calderon made an honest admission about his former club following Ronaldo's departure.

He told BBC Radio 5 Live : "I don’t think Real have moved backwards since last beating Liverpool in the Champions League final in 2018. Of course, we’ve lost Cristiano Ronaldo, who was a very big asset for us.

"But I think Karim Benzema is in very good shape, and Vinicius has been a surprise the way he’s been playing. And of course Rodrygo."

Should Liverpool be victorious this evening, they would collect their third piece of silverware this year. Champions League success would follow lifting the FA Cup and League Cup.
