Former Manchester United player Paul Pogba might be remembered for the wrong reasons

Juventus players couldn't believe what they were seeing when training with Paul Pogba for the first time in the summer of 2012.

"The first training session with Pogba had the Juventus players laughing," said Andrea Pirlo. "We were laughing in total disbelief that this player with so much obvious ability was able to leave a club the size of Manchester United for free.

"I think Juventus are still laughing. I will always remember that first day he trained at Juventus. He was only young but we could see he was special. Gianluigi Buffon came up to me laughing and he just said, 'Did they really let him go for free?'."

Sir Alex Ferguson believed a young Pogba had shown United a lack of respect over his departure, but Juventus benefited from the midfielder's contract dispute and he eventually became a world-class talent in Turin.

Although there were never any doubts about Pogba's ability in Manchester, there had been about his commitment, but that didn't stop the Frenchman from re-signing for United in a world record deal in 2016 after years with Juventus.

Pogba commanded an £89million fee and Jose Mourinho said he could be 'the heart of the club' for the next decade, however, there have been seven years since his re-signing and that prediction couldn't have been more wrong.

The player failed during his time at Old Trafford and he hoped to get his career back on track when he returned to Juventus last summer, but he's now facing a potential four-year ban after testing positive for a banned substance.
