Former Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho 'close' to securing new job
Former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is reportedly nearing a return to professional football.
Mourinho spent two-and-a-half years as United manager from 2016–18, winning the Europa League and Carabao Cup. The now-61-year-old left Old Trafford in December 2018 and was replaced by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The former United boss has been out of work since leaving Roma in January; however, there are now reports that Mourinho could be in line to return to professional football, but not in a managerial capacity.

According to Sportitalia, Mourinho is being lined up by Saudi Arabian club Al-Qadisiyah to be their new technical director. The report states that the former Chelsea boss is 'close' to being appointed to the role, in what would be his first job in football not as a manager.
Al-Qadisiyah are in the second tier of the Saudi Arabian football system. The club recently won the Division One title to confirm their promotion to the Saudi Pro League for next season.
Mourinho's last major trophy was winning the Europa Conference League with Roma in 2022 in the competition's first season. He spent two-and-a-half years in charge of the Serie A club in what was his first job outside England in more than a decade.
After leaving United in 2018, less than 12 months later Mourinho was taking on the manager's job at Tottenham Hotspur. He spent 18 months in charge of Spurs before leaving the North London club just days before he was due to take charge of the team in the 2021 Carabao Cup final.
