Former Man United CEO lands surprise new role after Sir Jim Ratcliffe deal

Richard Arnold has joined Norton Motorcycles in his first job since leaving Manchester United.

The former United chief executive stood down from his position at Old Trafford in November 2023, but remained on the board of directors until he handed in his resignation letter on February 15 of this year, following the completion of the deal that saw Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Ineos' invest in the club.

Arnold was initially replaced on an interim basis by Patrick Steward, who is also leaving before Omar Berrada takes up the position in July. Berrarda has been on gardening leave from Manchester City.

After keeping a low profile following his departure from United, Arnold will take up a new role at Norton Motorcycles. "I am looking forward to using my experience to assist Norton in maximising the opportunities ahead," he said.

Arnold spent 16 years at United having joined in 2007 and played a huge role in their commercial growth as a club during this time. The 53-year-old was appointed chief executive in February 2022 following Ed Woodward’s exit as executive vice chairman.

“It has been an incredible privilege to serve this great football club for the past 16 years," he said when his departure was confirmed in last year.

"Through highs and lows, the constant has been the dedication of our employees and fans. I would like to thank all of them for their loyalty and commitment, and wish everyone associated with the club the very best for the future.”
