Former Inverness star David Proctor eyes fast start on management debut with Cumbernauld Colts

Cumbernauld Colts boss David Proctor makes his competitive debut in Saturday's Lowland League opener away to Bo'ness and wants his side to make fast start with five games in 16 days.

The former Inverness Caledonian Thistle defender took the reins from James Orr in May, having been a coach at Broadwood, and is facing a hectic start to life in the dugout.

By August 8 Colts will have faced Bo'ness, Tranent, Rangers B, East Stirling and Dalbeattie Star.

And Proctor said: "I'm looking forward to getting started but it's going to be quite an intense start to the season with all the midweek games.

"We will have five games in 15 days or so and that is a tough schedule for part time players, but that is why we've tried to make the pre-season as tough as possible to get us ready for the challenge ahead.

"Hopefully we can get off to a good start."

On the trip to Bo'ness he added: "We had mixed results against them last season. We won at Broadwood and we lost away so there wasn't much between the teams.

"We will both want to improve on last season.

"They are a strong team who have adapted well to life in the Lowland League after coming up from the East of Scotland League and we are under no illusions how tough it will be at their own patch.

"But we've got to adapt to it, take confidence from the pre-season we've had and we know we've got enough quality in the squad to take our chances when they come along."
