Former Cymru Premier striker linked with move to Premier League giants West Ham

A former Cymru Premier forward has been linked with a move to Premier League giants West Ham United.

Ex Connah's Quay Nomads striker Rhys Healey now plays for French second tier side Toulouse and has been prolific since he made the move from MK Dons in 2020.

Born in Manchester, the 27 year old scored 15 goals in 29 appearances for the Deeside club between 2011 and 2013 before sealing a move to Cardiff City where he spent six years, albeit mostly out on loan.

Since arriving in France, Healey has gained a reputation as a prolific goalscorer having bagged 27 goals in 50 appearances for Les Violets.

Now, according to several sources including Sky Sports, Healey could be on his way to the London Stadium as David Moyes is reportedly keen to add to his attacking options.

Moyes is believed to be in talks to sign teenage Reims striker Hugo Ekitike however Reims want in excess of £25m (€30m) for the 19-year-old who has scored eight goals in ten Ligue 1 appearances this season.

But the Hammers are believed to be now looking at Toulouse forward Healey, who would be a far cheaper alternative.

Healey started his career with Nomads, joining their youth set-up at under-16 level in 2009.

He made his first team debut for the club as a substitute during a 6-1 victory over Caersws and made ten league appearances as Nomads won promotion to the Cymru Premier, then known as the Welsh Premier League.

The following season the young striker adapted well to the top flight and scored 12 league goals in the first half of the season.

This attracted the attention of several top clubs and the youngster spent some time on loan at Stoke City and his boyhood heroes Manchester City.
