Former Chelsea assistant manager Jody Morris has claimed that Mason Mount is capable of playing in a number of positions as Thomas Tuchel aims to solve his striker conundrum.
The Blues did not play a recognised forward in their latest outing against Lille, with Romelu Lukaku’s poor form continuing.
The Belgian was named as an unused substitute, whilst fellow forward Timo Werner came off the bench amid a quiet first-half to the 2021/22 season.
Tuchel’s selection proved to be the right one as goals from Kai Havertz and Christian Pulisic secured victory in their Champions League last-16 clash at Stamford Bridge.
Morris has offered a potential future resolution for the German, should the current Blues attack go off the boil.
Speaking after the win on Tuesday evening, he said of Mount: "He’s outstanding. I think it’s a load of nonsense when I hear people talk bad about him. He can play in a number of positions.
“He’s one of those players where, even when he was younger, you can tell him something once and you’ve never had to tell him again.”
