Former Celtic and Southampton striker on Forest Green Rovers' radar

Former Celtic striker Jonathan Afolabi has reportedly been on trial with Forest Green Rovers.

The 22-year-old Irishman started his career with Southampton but never made an appearance for the senior team.

He then moved to Scottish giants Celtic but again found game time extremely limited and was loaned out to Dunfermline and Dundee before joining Ayr last summer.

He was most recently on the books of Airdrie, where he had a short spell at the end of last season scoring three goals in 15 appearances.

Portsmouth are also interested in the Under-19 and Under-21 international after he scored and grabbed an assist in their 2-0 friendly win over Qatar SC in Spain earlier this month.
