Former 2010 Soccer World Cup comms head and journalist Jermaine Craig dies aged 47
Renowned media practitioner, journalist and former 2010 Fifa World Cup local organising committee head of communications Jermaine Craig has died.
A statement released by his family said Craig, who was 47, collapsed while taking part in a gym session on Monday morning.
"Jermaine collapsed while at the gym and was rushed to the Sandton Medi Clinic where efforts to revive him failed," the statement said.
Craig, who was working as a Confederation of African Football media officer dealing mostly with Mamelodi Sundowns’ matches, was also a media consultant to several companies and entities.
An excellent soccer journalist, who cut his teeth and won numerous awards during his time at The Star, Craig was previously also a former editor of The Argus, as well as the general manager for sport at the Independent News Group.
