Forget James: Journalist blasts 2/10 Leeds ace with ‘poor body language’

Journalist Beren Cross has slammed Leeds United forward Rodrigo for his ‘dire display’ during the team’s 3-0 loss to Chelsea, equalling it to the performance of his teammate who was sent off within the first 25 minutes. 

The Whites struggled to create any meaningful chances throughout their tough match up with third-place Chelsea, failing to put a shot on target for the entire 90 minutes as the attack looked lifeless after forward Daniel James was sent off early in the first half.

However, despite James stealing the headlines with the Yorkshire team’s second red card in as many games, his fellow forward, Rodrigo, failed to impress once again and was slammed for his effort, or lack thereof, during the game.

Journalist Cross slammed the Spanish striker in his player ratings, giving him a 2/10 for his performance, saying:

“Recreated his Aston Villa nadir. A dire display and poor body language to go with it. Basic passes went astray and was too often seen languidly walking after losing possession”.

Cross’ harsh evaluation of Rodrigo is justified by the woeful SofaScore stats of his Chelsea performance. He only managed a 6.2 match rating and failed to register a single shot on target or off target and only managed one successful dribble during the entire 90 minutes. He also managed no key passes, no crosses and no long balls while only winning two of his seven ground duels, losing possession 11 times.

He also failed to do any meaningful defensive duties, committing one foul, failing to block any shots, making any interactions or tackles while being dribbled past twice and creating one error leading to a shot, which nearly led to a second goal for Chelsea’s Christian Pulisic.
