"Forest fans will not be happy..." - Journalist reacts to big Nottingham Forest claim

Nottingham Forest fans will not accept Brice Samba leaving the club this summer, according to Midlands-based journalist Josh Holland.

The goalkeeper played a major part in Forest ending their 23-year wait for Premier League football last month, but he recently informed the City Ground hierarchy that he wants to be sold.

Samba made 45 appearances for Forest last season, taking his overall total for the club to 133 since he signed from Caen back in 2019.

Perhaps his most memorable game for the club came in the play-off semi final victory over Sheffield United when he saved three penalties to book Forest’s place at Wembley.

But less than four weeks later, The Athletic reported that Samba has informed the club that he doesn’t want to sign a new contract and has asked to leave.

The report states that Samba, who’s about to enter the final 12 months of his City Ground deal, has been offered fresh terms, although he deems the proposal to be ‘unacceptable’ and while the shotstopper isn’t motivated by money, he feels let down by the club following his importance to Steve Cooper and his relationship with the supporters.

As a result, Holland reckons that allowing Samba to leave this summer won’t be received well by the Forest faithful.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “I definitely know that Forest fans will not be happy letting him go after what he’s done for the club, and if they’re offering him unacceptable terms, I don’t think that will go down well with the fans and even the squad, you can imagine the atmosphere if they know one of the key players is being disrespected in a financial way then I don’t think that will go down well.”
